Why do you use water?

Water is used to cool the industrial diamond segments on the blades and bits. The water is also useful for removing cutting material like small pieces of concrete and dust as we cut or drill and allowing us to cut or core through concrete quicker. Using water also keeps the amount of dust in the air to a minimum.

Can Merlin Stelzer perform the cutting or coring without the water?

We can use dry diamond blades that are designed to cut concrete dry but then we will have to cut slower, go through more blades or bits, and dust will become a major issue.

Is there any limitation to where Merlin Stelzer can drill or saw?

We have worked in a number of residential or commercial settings, ranging from a single family home to large industrial complexes, construction excavation sites, silos, power companies, treatment plants, and hospitals. Basically, if we can fit the equipment in the area, be able to use it properly and safely, we will perform the work.

What does Merlin Stelzer require of a home owner when you cut or drill at our residence?

When we perform any cutting job we need access to water and electric. The area we are cutting must be excavated prior to our arrival. The area must be marked by the utilities; contact Missouri Dig Right for marking and it may take a few days to be completely marked so contact them early. The area that we are cutting must also be marked for the cut or hole so we know where to work. Lastly, all permits must be obtained prior to our work being started; we are not accountable for any permits.

What happens to the cut or cored section of concrete?

Removal can be provided for additional cost to license landfill, recycling center, or if desired, for an additional cost, could be broken up so that you can use it for clean backfill.

Can you cut or drill in all seasons and weather or is there limitations?

When water is being used we cannot work in below freezing temperatures. Certain other types of weather can limit our working ability and safety.
